Day: 02 Full Day Guided Tour in Kathmandu Valley. Drive to Nagarkot

Today, you will have the opportunity to explore Kathmandu with our experienced city tour guide. Our itinerary includes several remarkable sites:

SWOYAMBHUNATH STUPA (MONKEY TEMPLE): Start your day atop the hill at Swoyambhunath, one of Nepal’s oldest religious complexes, offering stunning 360-degree views of the Kathmandu Valley.

  • The Experience: Climb the 365 stone steps to the east for a traditional entry, or drive to the western parking lot for easier access.
  • What to See: The central white stupa with Buddha’s “all-seeing eyes,” the Hariti Temple (dedicated to the goddess of smallpox and protector of children), and the playful rhesus macaques that give the site its nickname.
  • Pro Tip: Walk clockwise around the stupa while spinning the prayer wheels.

KATHMANDU DURBAR SQUARE: A short drive brings you to the historic heart of the city. Kathmandu Durbar Square is a “living museum” showcasing Malla and Shah dynasty architecture.

  • Kumari Ghar: Ornate residence of the Living Goddess. Catch a glimpse of the Kumari at her window during 9:00–11:00 AM or 4:00–6:00 PM.
  • Hanuman Dhoka Palace: The former royal palace complex.
  • Kaal Bhairav: A massive 17th-century stone image of the fierce manifestation of Lord Shiva.
  • Taleju Temple: The tallest temple in the square, accessible to the public only once a year during Dashain.

BOUDHANATH STUPA: Head east to Nepal’s largest spherical stupa and a key center of Tibetan Buddhism. The atmosphere is serene, rhythmic, and deeply spiritual.

  • The Ritual: Join pilgrims in performing a Kora (clockwise circumambulation) around the massive dome.
  • Lunch: Enjoy Tibetan specialties like Thukpa or Momos at rooftop cafes such as Roadhouse Cafe or Stupa View Cafe, offering direct views of the golden spire.

PASHUPATINATH TEMPLE: Drive to the banks of the Bagmati River to visit Nepal’s most sacred Hindu shrine. Only Hindus may enter the main temple courtyard; the best views are from the eastern bank across the river.

What to See: Open-air cremation ghats, Sadhus (holy men) with painted faces and dreadlocks, and traditional rituals reflecting the cycle of life and death.

After sightseeing in Kathmandu, leave for Nagarkot, which is a 32 km (20-mile) drive that typically takes 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on traffic, particularly through Bhaktapur. The road winds through terraced hills, pine forests, and small villages, and you should arrive in Nagarkot by early evening.

Once you check into your hotel, head to a balcony or viewpoint to enjoy the sunset. Nagarkot is renowned for its panoramic views of the Himalayas, including the Annapurna, Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, Langtang, and Jugal ranges, especially on clear evenings. Most hotels feature cozy dining rooms with fireplaces, perfect for a warm dinner in the serene mountain atmosphere, which is a peaceful contrast to Kathmandu. To catch the breathtaking sunrise over the Himalayas, set your alarm for 5:30 AM. On particularly clear days, you might even glimpse a distant view of Everest, which is a major reason many visitors come to Nagarkot.

Sightseeing: 7-8 Hours | Transfer: 32 km, 1.5–2 Hours | Accommodation: Hotel | Meals: Breakfast, Dinner
Day: 03 Enjoy Sunrise in Nagarkot. Visit to Changunarayan Temple, Bhaktapur and Patan.

Himalayan Sunrise: Wake up before dawn to witness why Nagarkot is world-renowned.

  • The Experience: From your hotel balcony or the Nagarkot View Tower, watch the first rays of light hit the peaks. The color shifts from a deep indigo to a fiery orange and finally a brilliant white.
  • The Panorama: On clear days, you are treated to a massive wall of the Himalayas, including Mt. Everest (8,848 m) as a small pyramid on the far horizon, alongside Gauri Sankar, Langtang Lirung, and Dorje Lakpa.

Breakfast with a View: Enjoy a hearty breakfast at your hotel, soaking in the crisp mountain air before your private vehicle begins the descent back into the valley.

CHANGU NARAYAN TEMPLE: Located on a high ridge, this site is the oldest Hindu temple in Nepal, dating back to the 4th century (Lichhavi period).

  • The Artistry: It is considered a masterpiece of wood and stone carving. Look for the statue of Vishnu Vishwarup, considered one of the finest stone carvings in the country.
  • The Vibe: Unlike the busier city temples, Changu Narayan is serene and surrounded by a small, traditional village and a museum dedicated to local history.

BHAKTAPUR DURBAR SQUARE (The City of Devotees): A short drive leads to Bhaktapur, the most well-preserved of the three medieval city states. It is a car-free zone, allowing you to walk through history.

  • 55-Window Palace: Admire the intricate woodcarvings of the royal balcony.
  • Nyatapola Temple: This is the tallest temple in Nepal. Its five tiers represent the five basic elements.
  • Pottery Square: Watch local artisans spin clay on traditional wheels and dry thousands of pots in the sun.
  • Lunch: You must try "Juju Dhau" (The King Curd), a thick, creamy yogurt served in clay pots that Bhaktapur is famous for.

PATAN DURBAR SQUARE (The City of Fine Arts): Cross the Manohara River to Lalitpur (Patan), the center of Buddhist and Hindu metalwork.

Drive to Kathmandu: After a long day of cultural experiences, your driver will return you to your hotel in Kathmandu, likely located in the Thamel or Lazimpat area. The journey back to the capital takes approximately 30 to 40 minutes, depending on the traffic conditions at the Bagmati Bridge in the late afternoon. Check into your hotel upon arrival.

Day: 05 Full day Guided Tour in Pokhara City

Explore the natural beauty and spiritual landmarks of Pokhara with this detailed day itinerary. To comfortably visit all the sights on your list, it is recommended to hire a private taxi or car for the day.

  • Morning: Sunrises and Sacred Sites: Sarangkot Sunrise: Start your day before dawn. A 30-minute drive from Lakeside brings you to Sarangkot (1,600m). As the sun rises, the peaks of Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, and the iconic Machhapuchhre (Fishtail) turn from ghostly grey to brilliant gold. Note: If you’re feeling adventurous, the hill is also the primary takeoff point for paragliding.
  • Bindhyabasini Temple: On your way back down from Sarangkot, stop at this white pagoda-style temple. Dedicated to Goddess Bhagwati, it is one of Pokhara’s oldest and most important Hindu shrines. The atmosphere is often filled with the scent of incense and the sound of bells as devotees perform morning rituals.
  • Seti River Gorge (White Water): Hidden in the middle of the city, the Seti River flows through a remarkably narrow and deep chasm. From the bridge near the K.I. Singh area, you can look down into the milky-white waters rushing through the limestone gorge. It’s a brief but powerful reminder of the geological forces shaping the valley.
  • Mahendra Cave & Bat Cave: Head to the northern end of the valley to explore Mahendra Cave, a large limestone cavern with natural stalactite and stalagmite formations. Just a short walk away is the Bat Cave (Chamero Gufa); it is darker and more rugged, home to thousands of horseshoe bats clinging to the ceiling.

Lunch at Lakeside: Return to the Lakeside area for a wide variety of local and international cuisines with a view of Phewa Lake.

  • Devi’s Fall (Patale Chhango): Visit the "Underworld Waterfall." The Pardi Khola stream disappears into a deep tunnel and seemingly vanishes into the earth. Right across the street is the Gupteshwor Mahadev Cave, where you can walk deep underground to see the base of the waterfall from inside the cave.
  • World Peace Pagoda (Shanti Stupa): End your day at this massive white stupa atop Anadu Hill. You can reach it by driving or by taking a boat across Phewa Lake and hiking up (approx. 45 minutes). It offers the most famous panoramic view of the lake, the city, and the mountains at sunset.

After a day of exciting explorations, we'll return to our cozy hotel, where a welcoming atmosphere awaits. The soft lighting and comfortable furnishings will provide an ideal setting for relaxation. As night falls, we can unwind and reflect on the day with a light meal or drink in the lounge. This peaceful retreat will allow us to recharge for the exciting experiences ahead. With restful sleep nearby, we'll wake up refreshed and ready for new adventures.

Sightseeing: 7-8 Hours | Accommodation: Hotel | Meal: Breakfast
Day: 06 Visit Begnas Lake and International Mountain Museum

Begin your day in Pokhara with the tranquility of Begnas Lake (Begnas Tal), located about 13 km east of the city. This serene spot is a quieter, more pristine alternative to Phewa Lake and offers a glimpse of what Pokhara was like before tourism increased. Depart from your hotel to catch the morning light dancing on the Annapurna range. Rent a traditional wooden boat to explore the glassy waters, where the reflections of Mt. Machhapuchhre (Fishtail) and Annapurna II create breathtaking views. If you're feeling active, take a 20-minute walk up to Sundari Danda, a ridge that offers a panoramic view of both Begnas Lake and the smaller, wilder Rupa Lake.

Around noon, enjoy lunch at one of the lakeside garden restaurants, where you can savor fresh, locally caught fish before heading back toward the city.

In the afternoon, visit the International Mountain Museum (IMM), a tribute to the "Greatest Heights on Earth." Aim to arrive around 1:30 PM and explore exhibits such as the Hall of Mountain People, which showcases the cultures of Himalayan ethnic groups like Sherpas, Gurungs, and Thakalis. Visit the Hall of World Mountains, which details the 14 "eight-thousanders" and the legendary climbers who first summited them. Don't miss the Outdoor Park, featuring a 21-meter model of Mt. Manaslu and a working Buddhist Lakhang (shrine). By 3:30 PM, return to your hotel in the Lakeside area to rest and refresh.

In the evening, enjoy a self-guided visit around Lakeside, the vibrant heart of Pokhara, along the shores of Phewa Lake. Take a leisurely walk along the paved lakeshore path, especially enchanting at sunset when Tal Barahi Temple is illuminated. Browse the shops for pashminas, hand-carved singing bowls, and trekking gear. Witness the evening Aarti (prayer ceremony) near Basundhara Park around 6:00 PM, or take some time to unwind with coffee, wine, or dinner. For live music and a lively atmosphere, consider visiting venues like the Busy Bee or Rolling Stones or opt for a more relaxed experience at a small lakeside cafe.
